Formula
X% of Y = (X/100)×Y. X as percent of Y = (X/Y)×100. Percent change = ((Y−X)/X)×100.
Example
25% of 200 is 50. 50 is 25% of 200. A price rising from 200 to 250 is a 25% increase.
Frequently asked questions
Is percent change the same as percentage points?
No. A rate moving from 10% to 12% is a 2 percentage point rise, but a 20% relative change.
Can the result be over 100%?
Yes. If a value more than doubles, percent change exceeds 100%.
